Community consultation to start on White City opportunity area23rd August 2005A major community consultation programme is set to be launched on the future development of one of London's most significant regeneration opportunities, the White City Opportunity Area. A week long programme of consultation events will provide the opportunity for the local community to view initial proposals for a masterplan for the site and to discuss and submit their views on the future development of the site. The programme begins at the White City Estate Community Centre on the 2nd September and concludes at the Edward Woods Community Centre on the 8th September. The White City Development site which is located to the north of the Whitecity Shopping Centre centre comprises 43 acres extending north from Aerial Way under Westway to Shinfield Street, and east from Wood Lane to the A3220. The Masterplan, designed by internationally renowned architect Rem Koolhaas (the Office for Metropolitan Architecture), sets out the different types of land uses such as offices, housing and community uses, the location and area of open space, and transport links and connections. Matthew Bonning Snook, from the White City Landowners, said: 'This site is one of the most exciting regeneration opportunities in London and has the potential to deliver huge benefits for the W12 area and beyond. We want to get the views of the local communities and our consultation events will give local people the opportunity help shape the future of this major site.'
