The street pattern is organised around a North-South boulevard running through the site. This boulevard is connected to Wood Lane at three points. The boulevard is intended to be comfortable for pedestrians and cyclists with slow moving traffic. It could also serve as the main route for public buses to service the site. Secondary streets connect the boulevard eastwest with the proposed service road on the eastern edge of the site. The service road is designed to accommodate heavier vehicles and parking entrances.
White city station
The current White City Station lacks connection to the development site. The masterplan proposes to upgrade this station so that it is open with clear links between Wood Lane and the new development. The upgraded station would have a strong presence on Wood Lane and provide improved facilities and be accessible to all users.
Pedestrian & cycle routes
There is the possibility for a number of pedestrian and cyclist links across the West Cross Route for easy access to the currently disconnected areas east of the site such as Latimer Road station, Notting Hill and Kensington Gardens.
Media tube & station link
The 'Media Tube' provides a pedestrian link, from the shopping centre to the two underground stations. It is activated by displays of international news, weather, sports updates, flight and train schedules, stock market, BBC broadcasts and childrens programmes. In addition the 'Media Tube' will be home to local cafes, shops and WIFI sites.
